Day Two – Bathroom Blitz
This is one step that I’ve borrowed from Fly Lady – in her morning routine she does a Swish and Swipe, a basic cleaning of the bathroom vanity, mirror and toilet.
When I was following the Baby Steps and the months after I found this really did make a big difference. I’d do it every morning while brushing my teeth and even just having a clean vanity and toilet would make the whole room feel clean.
Plus an added bonus is that if you do it every day it gets easier and easier to do! And when it comes time to give your bathroom a good deep clean it’ll be much simpler and quicker.
So, every morning take a cloth and quickly wipe down the bathroom vanity, tidying as you go. Also quickly wipe down the mirror (those glass cloths would be good for this).
Once the vanity is clean wipe the head down the head of the toilet then grab the toilet brush and give the toilet a quick clean. Remember, this simply a maintenance thing, you do not have to clean it perfectly.
I also keep a little spray bottle of cleaner in the bathroom (normally just a mix of vinegar, water and a little dishwashing liquid, or the same with eucalyptus instead of vinegar). A spray of this on the vanity or in the toilet can make it just a little easier to clean.
I find keeping a cloth and the spray in the bathroom at all times makes the task much easier to do – if you have the equipment needed on hand you are more likely to do it quickly and easily. If you have to hunt around for a cloth you’re more likely to leave it until later and we all know that means you are likely to not do it all!
So, after you’ve made your bed go and give your bathroom a quick blitz as you brush your teeth and get ready for the day. Both of these are really easy to incorporate in to your routine (each only take minutes) and can make a big difference to the cleanliness of the rooms.
