I think Lily is very appreciative of my blogging caper – she gets to see so many new movies! This time, Disney sent me a copy of the new Super Buddies movie to review.
Something out of this world is happening in the quiet town of Fernfield. The Buddies: Budderball, Mudbud, Buddha, B-Dawg and Rosebud are about to become super heroes! This brand new story bursts with action and excitement when the five pups try on magical rings that they find hidden in a barn. Now, they discover they have amazing new powers! Mudbud gains the power of invisibility. Rosebud becomes lightning fast. Buddha earns mind powers. B-Dawg can stretch incredibly far. Budderball is given extreme strength. With their newfound super abilities, the Buddies decide to use their gifts for the good of the planet. However, now that the rings have been activated, the evil Commander Drex, from the alien Darkonian race, has renewed his quest to gain control of the rings and sets out on a mission across the cosmos to find them and take over the universe. Now, it’s up to the Super Buddies to save Fernfield—and the world—from the evil commander. Along the way they discover that you don’t need superpowers to be a superhero!
This is probably one of the first “live action” movie that Lily has watched – she tends to stick to the cartoon style mostly. Yet, she seemed to love this movie. I asked her a few questions about it and even though it was like trying to draw blood from a stone, and I only got very simple answers, she had been talking lots about it before.
What part of the movie was your favourite?
“All of it!”
Which puppy was your favourite?
“The pink one!” (Rosebud)
What part didn’t you like?
“When it ended.”
To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting to like the movie – I never really have high expectations about movies with talking animals. But it wasn’t too bad! I only half watched it as I worked on some blog posts but the bits I did watch were cute and quite funny. The “talking” animals are quite well done and the human cast are fantastic – who would’ve thought you’d see John Ratzenberger (aka Clive from Cheers, aka voice actor in every Pixar movie) as Gramps!
