A few weeks ago we were invited to attend an event in the city for the launch of Ice Age 4 – Continental Drift on DVD and BluRay. It was to include a pirate cruise around the harbour and then a screening of the movie at the Sydney Aquarium. As an extra plus it was on a Sunday and Mr Monkey was going to be able to attend too! It was going to be his first “blogging” event.
Lily was excited to go on a boat and then watch a movie and we had been talking about it for a few days. As luck would have it, she woke early that morning in our bed and vomited everywhere. Pleasant way to wake up! She fell back asleep not long after we had stripped her and the bed and cleaned everything up but of course I couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t long until I was feeling unwell as well! We spent the day feeling horrible and miserable instead of spending it on the harbour on a pirate boat on such a beautiful, warm day.
The lovely Amy from Haussmann Communications agreed to send us one of the goody bags that everyone received on the day including a DVD/ BluRay pack. Lily was very excited to watch the movie and as I had fallen sick again a few days later we spent one evening eating toast on the couch and watching the movie.
Normally if we watch a movie at home Lily will watch a bit, get distracted and go off and play with her toys early on. But this time, she watched probably about 3/4 of the movie intently before she started getting tired and ended up playing with her toys. I was watching while working on the laptop but we both really enjoyed the movie.
Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego, and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.
It’s a fun few hours of entertainment with some great jokes and amazing animation.
The 4 Disk Set includes a copy of the movie on Blu-rayTM 3D & 2D, DVD & Digital HD. You can also stream the movie exclusively on Digital HD (DHD) from iTunes.
