Arancini, Tomato, Chili and Lime sauce, salad and garlic bread from last week’s meal plan. I was very proud of the fact that I made the sauce from scratch and it worked. Until Lily told me it was yucky. I want our good little eater back who ate anything we gave her!!

Exhaustion is the name of the game around here at the moment. If you missed it last week I announced that I’m pregnant with little monkey number 2. This pregnancy is kicking my butt and I’m finding it so hard to move off the couch.
The first few weeks I suffered from some “all day morning sickness” which just left me feeling constantly nauseous. Of course, that also coincided with us moving house so that was a fun few weeks. It was horribly trying to meal plan as I didn’t know what I would be able to stomach on a particular day. Just the thought of anything in a tomato sauce turned my stomach and I would decide on a meal on a case by case basis – “hmm should we have quiche tonight? Oh no, quiche makes me feel sick. Ok how about spaghetti bol? Oh god no! Ok, cheese on toast it is!” Fun times.
A few of the food aversions have continued after the morning sickness as stopped – I still haven’t really been able to stomach tomato based dishes too well. I’ve been craving things that are… “fresh”. Lots of fruit, salad, smoothies, ice blocks. Thankfully, they are mostly good for me.
So I’m starting to get back on track with meal planning, except for the little problem of motivation. So often it would just be easier to make some toast or two minute noodles. But I have to keep trying to make sure we’re eating properly.
Tonight Mr Monkey cooked up some of the brisket he brought home from work with some mushroom risotto, asparagus and English spinach. It was delicious but unfortunately Lily refused to eat any of it. I don’t know what’s going on with her lately.
Tomorrow night I’m going to make some four bean quesadillas – pretty easy to put together and hopefully they’ll go down ok. Wednesday night my parents are babysitting Lily while I go to the Buddhist centre so we will probably just go to the pub or something before hand.
We’ve been trialling a new seafood shop that’s only a few streets away so we will probably walk there on Thursday and pick up some fish to pan fry that night. I’ve been craving potato bake lately so will definitely be making some of that!
We still have some steak left in the freezer so I’ll cook that up Friday night with some cous cous for something different.
We haven’t had much pasta lately and because I can’t really stomach any tomato based sauces I’ll just cook it in some oil, garlic and fresh herbs. I’ll have to find something to add to for Mr Monkey for when he gets home from work because I know it won’t be filling enough for him.
Sunday there are loose plans to catch up with some of Mr Monkey’s high school friends. I’m not sure if it’s over lunch or dinner yet but if it’s lunch we will probably just pick up something light for dinner.
So a fairly standard meal plan this week. Hoping to get a little bit adventurous again in the coming weeks.
