I had the excellent experience of meeting my favourite author, Raymond E Feist, yesterday. I was running late because of bad traffic in the rain, so missed his talk but got to see the Q&A. I then lined up to have my books signed; about a 40 minute wait by myself with Chloe in the Hugabub and a very heavy nappy bag with my books in it. Raymond was really nice as he signed my books, commenting on Chloe and advising me to enjoy the first six months, before having a photo taken with me. And even better, he commented on my photo of us on Facebook! I have been reading his books since I was about 13 so it was such an amazing experience for me.
This week will probably be a bit less exciting. One of the only exciting and different things happening this week is on Tuesday night – we will be heading to our local Target for the VIP night for the Toy Sale. Mr Monkey’s choosing a winner of the Toy Sale Giveaway tonight so the winner should have their voucher early this week to use in the sale. We have a list of presents to buy for Lily and Chloe for Christmas, and my niece for her birthday and Christmas. There will also be games and prizes given away on the night through Twitter and Instagram. Should be lots of fun!
The rest of the week should be fairly calm so I’ve chosen a few different meals to try. We’ve been having a few issues with getting Lily to eat dinner – she just seems to want to snack constantly than actually eat a meal. So I thought we’d try some different things – kebabs on Monday and the popcorn fish on Thursday. I’m hoping that the different presentation may entice her to eat it. If you can see the featured image above (click through if you are reading via email or RSS reader), that was one of Lily’s lunches last week. I couldn’t be bothered fighting with her to eat a bowl of leftover risotto so I served it up on her plate with some tinned fruit salad (which is all she wanted originally), some cheese, an arrowroot biscuit, avocado, purple carrot and a muesli bar. She ate all of it except for the risotto and some cheese. I think I’ll have to be doing some more of these plates in the future.
Reworking an old favourite in Heston Blumenthal’s Spaghetti Carbonara to make it vegetarian – by replacing the pancetta with mushrooms. Also looking forward to another old favourite – Giovanni’s Sausages with Potatoes & Rosemary & Salad.
