Mr Monkey had Wednesday off last week. He was supposed to have Thursday off as well but had to work in the evening. Every other day he has started at 10am and finished, on average, at around 10pm. He was supposed to have Wednesday and Thursday off this week but due to the new menu starting and a function, he has to work. So, if he is actually able to have the next Wednesday off he’ll have worked 12 1/2 days straight, averaging 12 hour days.
Not only is it extra crap for him, it means I’m basically solo parenting for almost 2 weeks. Lily gets up before Mr Monkey most mornings and turns the TV on and plays with her toys. He normally gets her something to eat before he leaves. By the time he gets home she’s been asleep for hours and Chloe is normally asleep as well. I’m alone with the girls all day, doing the housework and the cooking. Everything. It’s a sucky situation all around.
But I’m trying to not let it get to me. I’ve been achieving things the last few days and I want to keep that up.
The meals are fairly simple this week. And I’m giving myself one night off and getting takeaway. I’m sure by Thursday I’ll deserve it!
I’ve had some recipes photocopied from a cookbook I borrowed from the library hanging around for about a year now. I keep meaning to use them but always forget. I noticed them again today so thought I’d give some of them a go this week. We have half a head of cauliflower left in the fridge so the risotto sounds interesting. I’ve only cooked fried rice a few times so am looking forward to giving that a go. Lily loves it normally too.
