Just a quick post today as I’m writing this at the kitchen bench while the water boils for dinner.
But look! I’m back! I was really surprised at exactly how much the tonsillectomy surgery affected me. Or perhaps it was the painkillers. Either way, I was really off my feet for about a week and greatly hindered for another. My throat is still fairly raw which affects what I can eat but for the most part I’m back to normal, just exhausted.
This week is hopefully going to be a quiet one – what I need to get back into the swing of things. While I was recuperating Mr Monkey got a job with a hospitality temp agency so he’s been doing casual work. It’s good money, which is good. It gives him a lot of variety, which is good. But it’s also erratic and hard to plan around. But it’s the best option for the moment.
Being hard to plan means I can’t plan when he’s home for dinner. Up until this morning he was working one job this week. As of this morning, he’s no longer working that job, is working two others and is working tonight as well. At the moment he’s off tomorrow which I’m hoping sticks as Lily wanted to have a “mexican night” for dinner.
Dinner tonight is also at her request – she asked for meatballs a few nights ago and when I said we didn’t have any I told her we’d put it on the meal plan and she got to choose which night. I think I’ll be doing that more often.
Otherwise meals are pretty simple but I’m rather excited about them, strangely. I made sure they were a little more interesting than the usual “sausage and pasta” or “chicken and mash”.
We’re hoping to get out to the in-laws’ house for dinner one night too but am not sure when we’ll arrange that around Mr Monkey’s work. So I’ll just shuffle meals around if that happens.
