Week 5 of the The 1 Million Kilo Challenge this week. It hasn’t been going great for me in the past week. All dinners I had at home I followed the meal plans but I spent two nights at my parents’ house (one night we went out for dinner), I was at my parents-in-law’s for one night and I ate a whole lot of crap during the days. Both sets of parents do serve healthy food and I tried to choose a healthy choice when out but it wasn’t following the meal plan. I’m hoping to do a bit better this week, at least with making healthier choices with my food during the day. I also drank a lot of soft drink in the past week after weeks of basically drinking none so that has to go again as well.

But I did good with my exercise! I actually went for a run on Tuesday AND Sunday! I started the Couch to 5K program last September, did the first two days, got some awful pains in my knees and then just kept putting off going for the next run. After Christmas I started working out on the Wii but kept putting off running as it was just too hard to find a time to do it when there was someone to look after Lily. But I decided this week that I was going to get back in to it and I did well! I’ve completed the first “week” of training and I have to say that I’m finding it easier than I did last time around. I know people scoff at the idea of working out on the Wii but it does seem to help, at least with endurance. Last September I couldn’t always complete each running section but this time I only faltered in the last seconds of one section! It feels good and I can’t wait to get better.

So, today we have Lily’s swimming lesson which Mr Monkey’s parents will be coming to watch and then we’ll be heading out to their house for the afternoon and dinner. I’m hoping it’s a nice day so Lily can run around naked in their backyard — she has had a really bad nappy rash lately and the sun and fresh air seems to help.

Tomorrow will be errand day. Sometime during the day the electrician should be coming to fix our stove. Before Christmas (yes 2 months ago!) one of the elements broke on the stove top – the ring around the element rusted through and collapsed so it wasn’t usable. So we were down to one element. We contacted the real estate (the stove belongs to the landlord) but didn’t hear back. We weren’t too worried as we were heading away for a week camping and then Mr Monkey was going to Thailand while I stayed at my parents’ house. When we got back the second element broke as well, while I was cooking dinner! So we were left with simply the top of the griller which works as an element but takes a very long time to heat up and it’s quite awkward. So we contacted the real estate again the “correct” way via email, didn’t get a response so we called her. She promised she would send someone out. A week later we hadn’t heard anything so we called her again. The electrician called that night to make an appointment for 11am-12 the next day. 3pm and he still hasn’t shown. I get a phone call to say he forgot! our appointment and would be there in half an hour. 1 1/2 hours later he shows up. Can you tell I was getting a little pissed off by this point?! He looks at the stove top, decides its simply the ring that needs replacing but since it’s such an old stove they don’t have the parts and will have to order them in. Could take a week. Great. Thankfully, a few days later he calls to say he has the part and can stop in that day but I’m at my parents’ house. So here we come to this Tuesday. He said he will call in the morning and arrange a time to come fit the parts. Here’s hoping he remembers and shows up when he’s supposed to!

So anyway, also on Tuesday we have to get the groceries done and I’m hoping to go for another run. Which means Mr Monkey will be preparing dinner – Prawns w/ Lemon Almond Aioli w/ ½ cup brown rice + Green Bean & Asparagus Salad. Yum!

Wednesday to Saturday I don’t have any plans for at the moment. Housework mainly, and there is a lot to be done. My parents are probably going to come up and take Lily to the Magic Yellow Bus on Thursday and I’m hoping to go to a cafe, have a coffee, read a book or write some blog posts. Ahh. Time to myself!

Sunday we are looking at going to the Harry Potter exhibition in the city with my friend Amy and I am super duper crazy excited! Can’t wait! :)
