So, I’ve changed my zones a little and separated the bathroom and laundry zones. The bathroom is a big enough zone by itself and with the bathroom and laundry separated in this house it didn’t make much sense to have them together.
And yes, I haven’t done much zone work lately. I had a bit of a down period for awhile and just couldn’t face the housework. Of course, I then became completely overwhelmed by how much needed to be done and didn’t know where to start.
I spent a few nights at my parents’ house the other week and was able to relax a little. I also managed to finally finish and submit my first assignment for the first unit of my course. Only took me 3 months! Surprisingly the tutor marked it within hours and I woke the next morning to discover I had received a High Distinction! Almost made it seem worthwhile
I’m not sure if it was a combination of that and the rest I got at my parents’ house but I came home and started going crazy doing the housework. Not too much; just tidying the lounge room and the dining room and keeping the kitchen tidy and a little cleaner. I also decluttered the computer table and set it up as a study table for me. I reorganised Lily’s toys and felt happy that at least most of downstairs was fairly tidy.
I’ve managed to keep it all fairly tidy for the most part and have washed the dishes and swept the kitchen almost every night since. It seems like such a basic thing to do and not worthy of much recognition but lately it feels like a major achievement.
Lily is spending Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Grandma & Grandad’s this week so I’m hoping to take advantage of having only one child to do some more housework. I want to get the house to standard where I can just maintain it again. This week will be focused on the laundry and if I get that done I’ll start on the bathroom (which I didn’t finish last week) and then the bedrooms. The bedrooms are shocking!
