These are my amazing business cards that I got created for the conference! They are designed by the amazing Claire Foxton and printed by Hero Print which was organised by my very cool friend Glen. Don’t they look schmick?!?
Lately my Mum has been trying to explain to my extended family (Nana, Aunt etc.) what exactly I do here. I still don’t think they understand. Especially when Mum tells them about the few events I’ve been invited to or the sponsorship opportunities I’ve received.
But what seems to confuse them the most is when Mum mentions my trip to Melbourne this week.
“Oh, so she’s going on a holiday?”
“No, she’s going to attend a blogging conference.”
“A what conference?!”
“A blogging conference.”
“But… What’s she going to do there?!?!”
In the year I’ve been blogging (yes I did just say one whole year! There will be a post about that as soon as I get off my arse and write it) I’ve seen the blogging community in Australia goes in leaps and bounds. Yet in so many ways it’s still a little like an underground club, not yet quite mainstream. And while I’d love to see the blogging community reach greater heights and more opportunities, I am loving that it still seems so secret, so cool, so hip. (Ugh! Did I just say “hip”!?!)
I feel almost as if I am part of a pioneering crowd. For once I’m part of the cool crowd! Or at least I can keep telling myself that. So I’m super, super excited to finally meet some of that crowd tomorrow! Yes, this post was actually going somewhere.
Thanks to the amazing guys at Coffee Alchemy I’m leaving on a 6am flight to Melbourne (yes! 6am flight! Ahh!) to attend the Digital Parents Conference. It’d going to be a full on day and night and I’m anticipating much drinking of coffee and perhaps even a V energy drink or two.
I’m also attending the Kids Business Bloggers BBQ on Saturday for a few hours but will have to leave early to catch my flight home.
So, this is an amazing opportunity for me and I can’t wait. I’m ready to learn, to mingle and to party! If you’re attending make sure to come up and say hello! If you’re not attending then follow the #DPCon12 hashtag on Twitter.
