I attended the Kidsbusiness Bloggers Brunch recently and Kmart were one of the brands presenting on the day. Kmart used the opportunity to debut their new extended Living range:
The extended range includes décor product complimenting Coastal, Classic and Urban themed homes, and has been designed to be versatile, allowing customers to draw inspiration from various elements of their lives.
I love the new dining range – I’m very partial to a blue and white stripe and I love the mix and match with the stone colour. However, I can’t seem to convince Mr Monkey that we need a new dining set and he won’t let me bring it home. I did manage to sneak two of the blue placemats in to the trolley today – at only $2 each they weren’t very noticeable! Now I’ll just to try and do the same for the rest, one cup and bowl at a time!
I also love the little table with drawers that they had on display, or the one with one drawer – it would make a perfect bedside table for Lily’s room. Once we have moved Lily’s room around a little we’ll look at buying it.
Today is my niece, Olivia’s, birthday. She turns 3 today and she loves owls (all named Hootabelle apparently, thanks Giggle and Hoot). Kmart offered to help us makeover her bedroom as a special birthday surprise.
As part of the new Living range Kmart have released new items for kids’ bedrooms. I spoke to one of the Kmart staff at the Brunch and she said that the idea behind the range is that, although the items aren’t “matchy matchy” they will all complement each other well. At the moment the range includes the owl and a transport/cars range.
The $100 gift voucher arrived from the team at Kmart and so before doing our weekly grocery shopping, Lily and I headed in to our local Kmart to buy “presents for Olivia”. I asked Lily to hold the list that my sister had given us and told Lily to be on the lookout for anything with an owl on it. The products were all fairly easy to find (although the money box and canvas bag that my sister wanted were out of stock) and it didn’t take long at all to find everything we needed. And $100 really does go a long way!
We came down to my parents’ house (where my sister and niece also live) over the weekend for Olivia’s birthday party and set her room up while she was at preschool today.
I love these wardrobe organisers. They’re big enough to hold a few blankets, and they make organising so much easier. And at only $8 each they are super cheap.
We have one of these clocks for Lily – we wanted a cheap clock that was nice and clear with numbers that Lily is able to read. When my sister asked for a clock for Olivia I knew I’d get this one as we’ve been so happy with it. It’s only $3 but still looks stylish and the numbers are big and clear for the girls to read.
These owl hooks were on show at the Bloggers Brunch and I actually sent a photo of them to my sister. I love the cute design and the bright colours and they are great for hanging the multitude of bags that girls this age collect as well as a jacket for the cooler weather at the moment.
I fell in love with this little owl statue at the Bloggers Brunch. It wasn’t on my sister’s list but I had to get it for my niece. I’m actually considering getting one for myself. Being ceramic, it has been put up out of the way, with all of the beautiful cards Olivia received at her party.
This bunting was a fluke find – I was walking past the baby section, saw a selection of bunting and noticed the colours on the polka dot flag. I turned the packet around and voila! Owls! The bunting is longer than we thought so we doubled it over to fit across the top of the window.
My sister reads a book to Olivia every night before bed so a lamp was a must-have. For only $9 these stand and shade packs are really stylish and come in a range of colours. They take a 40W E14 globe and are super easy to put together.
These owl frames match the hooks and are also super cute. My sister didn’t have photos ready to put in them but once she does she will probably hang them up on the wall (they have hooks and stands).
My sister actually picked up these “paintings” from her Kmart – they come in a pack of 2 so she got 2 packs. There were a few arguments about how to hang them but we finally decided on this square arrangement. The design is so bright and cute and give a lovely feel to the room.
Of course, the item to make the biggest difference in a bedroom makeover is always the quilt cover. My sister saw this quilt cover in Kmart and it was what started the original idea to create an owl themed bedroom. It matches well with the rest of the range without looking over-matchy and is so bright and colourful. The white background keeps it from looking too busy and it’s just perfect for this little 3 year old. And as you can see, Chloe thought it was extra-comfy too.
Also on the bed are the two gorgeous plush owls. The larger owl matches the owls on the quilt cover and the hooks and frames, while the smaller plush is a little different. But the colours and the polka dots match in well and they are such cute additions to the bedroom.
“I love my new room! My favourite is the flower bed! (the owl quilt cover)”
“Thanks Kmart for the beautiful products. Everything was so easy to put together and so cheap to create such a wonderful bedroom for my daughter.”
Emma, Olivia’s Mummy
