I think I’ve found a new favourite magazine. And by new I mean new to me, it’s been on sale since 2008. Mindfood Magazine is a really beautifully designed magazine with a good mix of stories and recipes. I’m not sure how it’s escaped my notice for so long but I think it will definitely join the other magazines I buy regularly. The Baked Lamb Meatballs with Pasta and Mexican Corn and Chorizo Soup are from Mindfood this week. Really excited about these!

Speaking of chorizo, I went looking last week for a good mild chorizo. Unfortunately, the deli at our local shopping centre, which could’ve been an option, is closing down. We decided to try the smoked chorizo from the other butcher but it was only after I had cooked up the chorizo and chickpea stew that I remembered that we had bought that one before and it was very spicy. The stew was still very yummy and really quick and easy to cook, but I didn’t even bother giving any to Lily and I had trouble getting through the bowl. I contacted Urban Food Market on Twitter and they said that their chorizo is really nice and mild so we’ll be giving that a try this week. I’m hoping it’s good because I seem to be obsessed with chorizo lately.

My Slow Cooker Curried Sausages recipe is one of the most viewed pages on here and it definitely is a favourite around our house. I love the curry that we use however I don’t love that it uses palm oil. I haven’t found another that doesn’t use palm oil so I’ve gone searching for a way to make our own. I’ve found this recipe for Japanese Curry which says it is a good replacement for that brand of curry so I’m hopeful it will be good. If it turns out well I’ll look at adapting it for the slow cooker. And of course, sharing it on here!
