{This Week’s FlyZone} – The Master Bedroom

October 24, 2011 by flyingdrunkenmonkey

I don’t have high hopes of getting much done this week. I’m *hoping* to at least get my Weekly Tasks and a few of the Zone tasks done but I’m not sure if it will happen. I want to be optimistic and positive but that hasn’t really gotten me very far lately.

After finally going to the doctor and getting some antibiotics, and doing daily sinus flushes (can I just say, EWWW!!), I’m finally starting to feel better. Definitely not 100% and I still have a faint headache all day from the congestion but at least I’m not feeling like crawling up in a ball all day and ignoring the world.

So, I’m keeping my expectations low for this week – Weekly Tasks, Zone Tasks, and if I’m feeling up to it, a run later in the week.

If I manage to get that done I have another task I’d like to tackle. As you can see in the top photo my wardrobe needs a lot work. It’s been quite a while since I’ve cleared it out and as things started to overflow I just kept piling things in and stuffing clothes in wherever they’d fit. I also desperately need to sort out my clothes. I know there is a lot in there that I don’t wear or is really getting too old to wear. A lot I hold on to “just in case” but I end up wearing the same thing. I need to be ruthless and actually donate or throw away clothes that I really do not wear. As you can see, I also need to fix two of the drawers, so much was shoved in there that it got too heavy.

There’s also another clothes related thing to be done – I need to tackle the “Mountain”. While I was away on my extended trip to my parents’ house, Mr Monkey was kind enough to bring the washing in and hang some more out for me. Unfortunately, his version of bringing it in is to dump ALL of it in the basket in the bedroom, although he did dump Lily’s clothes on top of her drawers. (I can’t really complain because at least he did it, and I used to do exactly the same thing.) I know I should have attacked it as soon as I got home but I really wasn’t up to it. And then of course I kept adding to it instead of putting away the clothes, making the mountain bigger and making it even harder to start. So perhaps one day while Lily is napping I’ll get started on it, or perhaps she can help me. She really enjoys putting things away for me when I ask her. Fingers crossed she keeps that up.

So, anyway, here’s what I’m going to do this week:

  • ~ Dust
  • ~ Clear beside tables
  • ~ Clean mirrors
  • ~ Clean balcony doors
  • ~ Tidy change table
  • ~ Clean wardrobe doors
  • ~ Tidy under bed
  • ~ Fold clothes
  • ~ Vacuum
  • ~ Clean walls

  • ~ De-clutter wardrobe
  • ~ Fix drawers

So there you have it, my plan for the week. I’ll let you know how I go at the end of the month.

What do you have planned for this week? Are you working in the Bedroom too?

I keep thinking I ought to sort through my clothes and donate a lot of things I barely/never wear. A lot of it has sentimental value though… mostly t-shirts from concerts! And my grade 7 t-shirt which is literally falling to pieces and is so threadbare it’s not even good for a PJ shirt anymore… That should really go into the bin but it’s one of my only reminders of my classmates.

I always think of that episode of “Rules of Engagement” where Audrey has all of Jeff’s memory shirts sewn into a quilt… How fantastically good is that! If only I could sew, or afford to have someone do it for me :P

Mine doesn’t have a lot of sentimental value. It’s more stuff that I keep because I think “it’s too good to throw away, not good enough to wear out, I’ll probably just wear it around the house.” Then never wear it. I think a lot of my t.shirts don’t fit me anymore or are too short so I’m going to need to get rid of most of those. I think Mr Monkey is scared of me doing this because I’m going to discover I need lots of new clothes! :)
