Last week I had pretty big plans of getting our bedrooms tidy. I did ok with Lily’s – got the toys put away, her sheets changed and the bed remade and her clothes put away.
I aimed to at least get all the clean clothes put away in our bedroom – I mostly succeeded. I sorted them then put mine and Lily’s away. Mr Monkey’s went back in the basket for him to put away (yes, they are still in the basket) and Chloe’s went in a tub in front of her drawers because I’m lazy.
After that I kind of fizzled out and didn’t do anymore. But I did manage to keep the downstairs area fairly tidy, although we got behind with the dishes.
Yesterday, I decided to just go through and do a quick clean through the whole house. While Mr Monkey started on the dishes I started tidying the lounge room. I ended up sorting the shoes and trying to fix the shoe rack as well. It’s not completely fixed but it’s much better than it was. I also moved Mr Monkey’s bike from in front of the shoe rack and into the dining room in front of the bookshelf where it is more out of the way. We hadn’t been able to do that for awhile because there had been other things stored in front of the bookshelf.
I put all of the toys generally away but didn’t sort through them. I wiped off the TV cabinet and cleared and wiped the top of the DVD cabinet. I gave the room a really good vacuum and it actually didn’t look too bad. Of course, it’s already a mess again (thanks girls!) but for awhile there it was pretty good.
So, I’ve already done about half of my tasks for this week, accidentaly really. I tidied the dining room a little as well, and the kitchen bench. But then I stepped on a piece of glass and because the sore is on the ball of my foot I can’t walk properly, making it a little hard to vacuum and do much cleaning.
But with Mr Monkey home this week I should hopefully be able to get some more cleaning done. Well, you’d think that but somehow it always seems to get messier when he’s home. But we’ll be down at my parents’ house for the weekend so it has to be done in the next few days.
Wish us luck!
